This Week in Books

NEXT: I think I might read Places and Names by Elliot Ackerman next. It sounds intriguing and comes recommended. Recently, I've been tending towards reading more nonfiction, especially books that take me to places and into situations I would never ordinarily have access to (and many I would not want to experience, either!)

This Week in Books is a weekly round-up a number of bloggers in which I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished reading Malcolm X by Manning Marable. It was an expansive book and I feel I learned a lot about the man as well as the civil rights movement and different approaches its leading figures took. I need to think about it a bit before I write a review, but I'd say it was a solid four star read, a little long for my taste, but definitely worthwhile.

NOW: Currently, I am reading Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson. I started this a while ago, then laid it aside for a bit, because I was reading it on the Kindle and somehow I feel less motivated to read books there. Now I picked it up again, though, and it's quite clever and engaging. Very unusual, too. Have you read it? What did you think?

I've especially enjoyed Jon Krakauer's and Levison Wood's books, if you're looking for recommendations:-)
