This Week in Books

This Week in Books is a weekly round-up hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. It was a really gripping account of a Mt. Everest climb. Though it will be no spoiler to say it is not a happy story, I could not stop reading, even as I wondered again and again why anyone would do this to themselves. You can find my full review here.

NOW: I am on my last Jon Krakauer book, Into the Wild now. I know this is the best known of his, but I already knew how the story would end and was reluctant to pick it up. After Into Thin Air, however, I was curious. So far, it's very engaging, even if the young man's whose journey it chronicles is not the most likable, for me at least. Have you read it or seen the film? What did you think?

NEXT: I have been shying away from crime fiction recently, as it just hasn't excited me, but I got my hands on an ARC of Catherine Steadman's new novel, Mr. Nobody, so I might give that a go as I liked Something in the Water quite a bit.
