Mini Review: Not a Happy Family by Shari Lapena

3***
On the one hand, this was an entertaining, fast-paced book; on the other, the ending was utterly predictable to me and the plot felt too thin for 350 pages. The fact that all the characters are pretty despicable needn't have been a negative (sometimes that's what makes a thriller interesting), but in this case, they were underdeveloped and all essentially a very slightly different version of each other. I think the problem might have been too many POVs? That being said, it was more or less what I wanted from a quick weekend read, and while it was formulaic, it held my attention well enough. If you're looking to start reading this author's work, though, I'd recommend The Couple Next Door over this one.
