Mini Review: Lies She Told by Cate Holahan

2.5***
This book is called "The Lies She Told", but it should have been called "The Lies She Told Badly", because it was so predictable! I'm no soothsayer (or am I?!), but I truly guessed just about every twist and turn. The book is not badly written, and the characters are entertaining enough, but the plot just felt so recycled. It's not easy to be totally original, and some tropes are perfectly fine, I just felt as though it was an amalgam of lots of other crime fiction and it didn't really pull me in or stand out. It seems somewhat ironic that the protagonist is a struggling author. I should say, I read a lot of mysteries, so if you don't, you might have a totally different and far more satisfying experience reading this book.
