This Week in Books

This Week in Books is a weekly round-up hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished How We Fight for Our Lives by Saeed Jones. It's a memoir, which isn't usually something I gravitate towards, but I found Jones had a really engaging writing style that read almost like fiction and I sped through the book. It's moving and upsetting in turn, but ultimately hopeful and certainly worthwhile read. You can find my review here.

NOW: Currently I am about halfway through James Brabazon's My Friend the Mercenary. It's a fascinating account of a journalist's experience reporting conflict in West Africa. If you've ever read anything by Levison wood, this might appeal to you, though it's much more grim.

NEXT: I have been reading quite a bit of nonfiction lately, but I am curious about Washington Black by Esi Edugyan. I've heard good things about it and in case you're interested as well, it's on sale on Audible at the moment!
