This Week in Books

This Week in Books is a weekly round-up hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished Matt Haig's Notes on a Nervous Planet. This is a really though-provoking little book and though the topics discussed weren't new, the author made me think about them more deeply. He discusses what it means to be human in the modern world, a world that is changing so quickly, in which we are constantly bombarded with not only information but also images and pressures. An engaging read! You can find my review here.

NOW: Currently, I am reading Islands in the Stream by Earnest Hemingway. I re-read The Old Man and the Sea, and though I disliked it in school, I really liked it now, enough certainly to give the author's other work a try. I'm not very far into this, and the beginning seems a little convoluted, but I like the way the author creates memorable characters and am curious how it will continue.

NEXT: I think I will finally read The Stone Circle by Elly Griffiths next. I really love this series, and have been saving this newest addition as a special read. To say expectations are high is an understatement;-)
