This Week in Book

This Week in Books is a weekly round-up hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished Mystic River by Dennis Lehane over the weekend, and it was quite something! The story is told from multiple POVs and shifts in time, yet still it manages to feel extremely cohesive and fast paced. Now I want to see the film, even though it's bound to be harrowing. You can find my review here.

NOW: I'm nearing the end of Harlan Coben's Run Away. I was hesitant to read this, because I had found previous books by the author to be a little formulaic, but I'd read this one was great and was in the mood for a fast faced thriller and on that front, it does deliver. It's not original, though, and rich in clichés, which is a bit of a pet peeve for me. That being said, I'll report back in full when I'm done. Look out for a review to come soon:-)

NEXT: I think I'm going to read The Sea by John Banville next. It's different from my typical fare of crime fiction, but it sounds very moving and has been recommended. have you read it? I'd never even heard of the author, although it seems this book won the Man Booker in 2005 (which does not always ring as an endorsement for my reading tastes, I must say).
