This Week in Books

This Week in Books is a weekly meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished reading Maggi O'Farrell's I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death. I had read a number of her novels and though I was a little daunted by the title, I am glad I read this book. She is a wonderful writer in both fiction and nonfiction, and though these accounts were harrowing to read about at times, I imagine writing about them must have felt at least a little therapeutic for the author as well. You can find my review here.

NOW: I've almost finished reading The Escape Room by Megan Goldin. It's entertaining, but I think will be ultimately forgettable. None of the characters are likable and though the story is fast paced, I was not wholly engaged or racing through it to find out how it would end.

NEXT: I will probably read Heather Morris' The Tattooist of Auschwitz next. I've heard only good things about this book, and though the story is undoubtedly going to be hard to read about, I am curious, too, and hope I will find myself in the majority of readers for whom this was a five star book.
