Link Love

It's Friday, which means it's time for Link Love, where I share some of my favorite bookish articles and blogs from the past week. There are quite a few links I found interesting and worth sharing this week. I hope you find something here you enjoy. Happy reading!
I thought this article I found on The Guardian website was really fascinating, because it examines the way people have adopted skim reading these days and how it impacts us and the way we absorb the world around us. Not everyone is guilty of this, of course, but I think the article does have a point. People nowadays expect things to be much faster than they once did. They rarely read print papers, they read online, refreshing all the time for updates. Children are entertained with the screen from the time they are able to hold an iPhone. This has to have an impact on concentration, which has an impact on so many other things. Really worth a read!
A harsh reality though this may be, mothers are so often the villains in literature. It goes back to fairy-tales with evil-stepmothers or mothers who abandon their children in the woods. CrimeReads takes a look at the most memorable mother villains in literature.
Author Steve Hamilton examines what it takes for a book to be a thriller. He looks at eleven books with one thing in common: mortal danger.
Finally, Goodreads takes a look at some of the biggest books coming this autumn. I am really looking forward to reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty, Lethal White by Robert Galbraith and The Witch Elm by Tana French.
What strikes your fancy on this list, or would you add something to it?
