This Week in Books

This Week in Books is a fun meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished reading Only Child by Rhiannon Navin. It was a really interesting and relevant story of a family dealing with the aftermath of a school shooting as told through the eyes of a six-year-old boy. You can find my review here.

NOW: Currently, I am reading Legendary by Stephanie Garber. It's the sequel to Caraval and either I am getting old, or this book is quite immaturely written, but I am not loving it. It's not terrible, just not very gripping, nor is the world building magical enough to suck me in. It sort of feels as if its trying too hard. Maybe I'll change my opinion by the end, since so many readers love it and I'd like to be among them, but right now, I am not feeling as if the review will be more than three stars. Have you read it? What did you think?

NEXT: I think I will read Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik next. It's one of my most anticipated reads this year, and I'm a little nervous of being disappointed. I really loved Novik's Uprooted and am hopeful this one will live up to my soaring expectations;-)
