This Week in Books

This Week in Books is a fun meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?

THEN: I finished reading Two Girls Down by Louisa Luna. This book, though not very long, took me ages to read. I liked the main detective, but the story was a bit of a slog. I got this as my Book of the Month last month or the one before, and had been looking forward to it, however I have found that the Book of the Month picks tend to be so-so for me, so I wonder whether I should cancel my subscription. Have you read the book? What did yo think?

NOW: Currently, I am reading The Cornish Guest House by Emma Burstall. It's quite sweet, but not as sugary as I had anticipated. The characters are lovely and the setting almost a character in itself. A nice break from my usual fare of murder and mayhem.

NEXT: A combination of the previous two books in this week's roundup is Our House by Louise Candlish, which I will probably read next. I really enjoyed her previous novel The Sudden Departure of the Frasers, but not so much her others, so I am curious how this one will be.
