Blog Tour: Cards From Khloe's Flower Shop by Isabella Anderson

Today I am joining the blog tour for Isabella Louise Anderson's new book, Cards from Khloe's Flower Shop. The author has shared a little about how she keeps motivated when writing in 'The Mental Author' guest post. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did:-)
THE MENTAL AUTHOR
Exhausted, overwhelmed, not motivated? As one who is an advocate for self-care, here are my tips for other authors to help relieve stress and anxiety.
1) Take care of yourself: I know a lot of authors who try to take care of themselves, but it can be hard to do so. I encourage the author to take breaks (ten minutes an hour, at the least), eat right (I go to www.Skinnytaste.com for amazing recipes), exercise (I'm a huge fan of my elliptical), and drink water (add a squeeze of fresh lemon and lime for a perk). All of these tips can help you stay productive with your WIP, but can also help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. I'm also a big fan of essential oils, too (you can never go wrong with peppermint and lavender, combined with a little bit of coconut oil). :
2) Note your surroundings: It took me a long time to realize that my writing slowed down and I was less productive when I wasn't in a comfortable place to work. Take a look at your workplace. Are there too many sticky notes laying around, empty coffee cups, and a slew of things left on your to-do list? Oh, and don't forget about dinner for your family!
…Sigh…
Get yourself out of where you are, and find a place that makes you happy. Whether it's at your favorite coffee shop, your couch, your dining room table-wherever you're happy is all that all that matters!
3) Read: While you might have a lot of work to do, reading can be research. Read one of your favorite books by your favorite authors, and then ask yourself why you love it so much? Is it the conflict between the main characters? The intimate and passionate love scenes that cause you to blush? For whatever reason you love that book so much, follow the guidelines (I'm not saying copy any of it), but use it as your guide to writing your best book!

As the owner of a successful florist shop, Khloe Harper trusts her instincts. She has a strong bond with her family and friends, but after being betrayed by her last love, she's kept herself at arms’ length from romance. When dashing entertainment attorney Derek Thomas walks into her store, Khloe’s interest is piqued. What at first seems like a business relationship quickly turns into romance, and Derek slowly plucks away the petals she’s been hiding behind. Just as Khloe lets down her guard, she discovers that Derek may not be worthy of her love after all. Frumpy Connie Albright has a faux fascination with an imaginary man named Walt, thinking that by sending herself flowers from him she’ll feel less out-of-place with the “mean girls” she works with. When she comes face to face with her possible prince charming and thinking she might have a happy ending, when a truth is revealed, she wonders if she’ll ever have a Cinderella story. A recently widowed senior, Gabby Lewis, isn't ready to give up on love—which means releasing herself from survivor's guilt and taking a chance on finding happiness and companionship again. After signing up for an online dating site for senior citizens, much to her surprise, she’s matched with Harry, an energetic and loving man, who quickly eases himself into her heart. Will Gabby take the leap of falling in love again, knowing it’s possible to have two loves of her life? As each woman’s story develops through flowers and cards sent from Khloe's shop during the Fall months, they begin to learn that love can only truly blossom when you trust your heart.
