“Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life.” ― Stephen King

It's Friday, which means it's time for Link Love, where I share some of my favorite bookish articles and blogs from the past week.

Happy reading!

Is anyone joining in with Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month)? I participated and finished the past two years, but will sit this one out. That being said, if you have the time and willingness, not to mention ideas, it is a great way to push you to write consistently and offers a way to interact and connect with fellow writers.

Have you read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi? I read it recently and really enjoyed it. The Guardian has done a little profile of the author's day writing, which I thought was worth reading whether you have read her book or not.

The Guardian also offers an interesting examination of literary festivals and what they offer. have you ever been to one? I've been to a few and enjoyed the opportunity of mixing with fellow bookworms and authors alike

Along with the British Library's exciting exhibition on Harry Potter (sadly sold out on the days I am here), J.K. Rowling has released the pitch she initially used to sell the book to agents, and was notably rejected many times. If that doesn't give writer's hope, I don't know what does!

Philip Pullman's latest book, The Book of Dust was released a little over a week ago and has been garnering rave reviews. I have my copy, but haven't started it yet. Have you? In any case, this interview with the author offers insight into his past writing and his plans for the future as well.

Lastly, because I cannot round up this post without a list, Purewow Books
