Weekly Wrap-Up

On Monday I continued with my regular post Mystery Monday, where I highlight three mysteries I am excited about. Check it out for some inspiration or if you are a crime fiction fan like me!

Another regular on The Princess and the Pen is This Week in Books, which is hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In the post, I review books I just finished, plan to read and am currently reading.

I also finished and wrote a mini review for After You Left by Carol Mason, which can be found here.

As for some new acquisitions . . .

Don't judge, but I confess I am partial to the odd thriller, and often read them in tandem with my dad. New this week is a book in a series I have been reading for a while by Ben Coes called Trap the Devil. It's not about fairies and pixie dust, but we live in such troubling times, sometimes it's satisfying to read a book about a character like the protagonist here, Dewey Andreas, who is almost indestructible and just gets it done.

In no way countering the roughness of that book, I also got the audiobook of Don Winslow's latest, The Force. I was a big fan of The Cartel and Power of the Dog, so I can't wait to see what he comes up with next, and the narrator sounds excellent!

Lastly, I just finished The Other Side of Happiness by Ayisha Malik. It's the sequel to the wildly lauded (by me as well) Sofia Khan is Not Obliged. I have to say, I was rather disappointed with this sophomore effort and will write a little review soon.

What did you read this week?
