Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely mums out there (though mine is undoubtedly the best)! In honor of this day, here are a few of my favorite quotes about the special lady, some of the best books to give to her, and some of the movies that are better watched with your mother beside you:-)

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” ― Washington Irving

“Sweater, n. Garment worn by child when its mother is feeling chilly.” ― Ambrose Bierce, The Unabridged Devil's Dictionary

“Our mothers always remain the strangest, craziest people we've ever met.” ― Marguerite Duras

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” ― Fred Rogers

“When your mother asks, "Do you want a piece of advice?" it's a mere formality. It doesn't matter if you answer yes or no. You're going to get it anyway.” ― Erma Bombeck

“A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path. ― Agatha Christie, The Hound of Death

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” ― Abraham Lincoln

“My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her.” ― George Washington

“All these kings would do a deal better if they would put down their swords and listen to their mothers.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Storm of Swords

“Perhaps it takes courage to raise children..” ― John Steinbeck, East of Eden
