This Week in Books

This Week in Books is hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found and is on this blog for the first time! In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future.

THEN: I just finished The Girl Before by J. P. Delaney. This book has been tremendously hyped (a little like the massive disappointment that was last year's Maestra), so I was expecting a really clever thriller. While it was a page turner, the story really fell flat for me, and it definitely had a hint of the sleazy Fifty Shades which I was not expecting and did not like. All in all, I'd say you don't need to hold your breath, if your library has run out of copies. You can find my short review here.

NOW: Finally got around to reading Susie Steiner's Missing, Presumed. It's starting off a little slower than I had anticipated, but I like Manon, the protagonist and the multiple POVs.

NEXT: I just got another haul at the library, so I'm a little overwhelmed, but it looks like I might finally get around to reading Yaa Gyasi's much-lauded Homegoing. Has anyone read it yet? What do you think? My expectations are fairly high for this one:-)
