Mystery Monday
Mystery Monday is a new feature on The Princess and the Pen, where I will highlight a few mystery novels on my radar. I come across so many mysteries on Goodreads, from social media and word-of-mouth recommendations and Mystery Monday will feature a small selection of those. Some will be debut authors, others well-established. One thing they will all have in common, though, is that they will probably make my to-read mountain topple over!
If you would like to participate in Mystery Monday on your blog, feel free to use the image and please link back to The Princess and the Pen:-)
Happy Reading!

First up is In Farleigh Field: A Novel of World War II by Rhys Bowen. Bowen is perhaps best known as the author of the Royal Spyness and Molly Murphy mysteries, but she has written so many more! In Farleigh Field is her latest and it sounds very promising.
Blurb:
"World War II comes to Farleigh Place, the ancestral home of Lord Westerham and his five daughters, when a soldier with a failed parachute falls to his death on the estate. After his uniform and possessions raise suspicions, MI5 operative and family friend Ben Cresswell is covertly tasked with determining if the man is a German spy. The assignment also offers Ben the chance to be near Lord Westerham’s middle daughter, Pamela, whom he furtively loves. But Pamela has her own secret: she has taken a job at Bletchley Park, the British code-breaking facility. As Ben follows a trail of spies and traitors, which may include another member of Pamela’s family, he discovers that some within the realm have an appalling, history-altering agenda. Can he, with Pamela’s help, stop them before England falls? Inspired by the events and people of World War II, writer Rhys Bowen crafts a sweeping and riveting saga of class, family, love, and betrayal."
Will you be reading In Farleigh Field, or have you already?
Next up is Ali land's Good Me, Bad Me. This has been recommended to me by a number of friends on Goodreads, and definitely sounds like a page turner. It is also the debut of this author, but by the solid rating on Goodreads and positive reviews, i think it won't be her last.
Blurb:
"Annie's mother is a serial killer. The only way she can make it stop is to hand her in to the police. But out of sight is not out of mind. As her mother's trial looms, the secrets of her past won't let Annie sleep, even with a new foster family and name - Milly. A fresh start. Now, surely, she can be whoever she wants to be. But Milly's mother is a serial killer. And blood is thicker than water. Good me, bad me. She is, after all, her mother's daughter..."
Last in this weeks Mystery Monday roundup is My Husband's Wife by Jane Corry. I own a copy of this book and plan to read and review it soon, so I thought it only right to include Corry's debut thriller here.
Blurb:
"It won't be so bad when you're there, says my new husband before kissing me on the mouth. He tastes of Rice Krispies and that strong toothpaste of his which I still haven't gotten used to. I know, I say before he peels off to the bus stop on the other side of the road. Two lies. Small white ones. Designed to make the other feel better. But that's how some lies start. Small. Well meaning. Until they get too big to handle. When young lawyer Lily marries Ed, she's determined to make a fresh start. To leave the secrets of the past behind. But then she takes on her first murder case and meets Joe. A convicted murderer whom Lily is strangely drawn to. For whom she will soon be willing to risk almost anything. But Lily is not the only one with secrets. Her next-door neighbor Carla may be only nine, but she has already learned that secrets are powerful things. That they can get her whatever she wants. When Lily finds Carla on her doorstep sixteen years later, a chain of events is set in motion that can end only one way."
