9 Great Book Club Reads

“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.” ― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars
Do you belong to a book club, or was your 2017 resolution to join one, or even start one? I belong to two. One is a feminist book club, which meets once a month, the other is for fans of Jane Austen, though our meetings have been a little irregular lately. When I lived in England, I also joined the international Poppy Loves Books Club, which was a fun way to meet people. All of these have one thing in common, we all read the same book. I know people who belong to book clubs where everyone reads a different book chosen but in the same genre, which also sounds like fun. Here in DC there's even such a think as a silent book club, where people gather to read, silently, with one another. Though the latter may not be the most sociable event, I have found it to be nice to belong to a book club to meet people and discuss a shared interest, whether we enjoyed the book or not. So, if you belong to one, or want to start one yourself, I've chosen a few books, both fiction and non-fiction, which I think make great book club reads, with plenty to chat about. Hope you enjoy one of them, or all of them, and let me know your own recommendations!
